In the program that started with ribbon cutting, Earthquake Coordinator Zemzem Çetin said, “We started this work with pain, but the point we have reached is promising.” Workshop instructor Fatma Erkan said, “Kirkyama is not only good for fabrics, but also for the soul. Each piece is a hope and the courage to start again.” She thanked the trainees and those who supported them. The program ended with the presentation of flowers to the teachers and certificates to the trainees.
Following the earthquakes of February 6, 2023, Bülbülzade Foundation aims to support earthquake survivor women to acquire professions and re-join social life with the Biçki Sewing Workshops established in Nurdağı and İslahiye. Thanks to the tailoring and sewing trainings, women not only develop their hand skills and participate in production, but also acquire a profession that can provide their own livelihood. The trainings provided in the workshops contribute to women overcoming the difficult period they have been through, taking a more active role in social life and gaining economic independence.
